Bob Casey Jr. was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Senator Casey graduated from The College of the Holy Cross in 1982, and spent the following year teaching fifth grade and coaching eighth grade basketball in inner city Philadelphia for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. He received his law degree from Catholic University in 1988, and entered the practice of law in Scranton. Prior to serving as a US Senator for Pennsylvania he served as the Pennsylvania Auditor General and the Pennsylvania Treasurer. He first assumed office on Janurary 3rd, 2007. During his time in office in 2023-2024, he served on the following: Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; Committee on Finance, Subcommittee on Health Care, International Trade, Customs, and Global Competitiveness, Social Security, Pensions, and Family Policy; Committee on Foreign Relations, Chairman; Committee on Finance, Subcommittee on Health Care, International Trade, Customs, and Global Competitiveness, Social Security, Pensions, and Family Policy; Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, Subcommittee on Children and Families, Chairman, Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety; Committee on Aging (Special), Chairman; and Committee on Intelligence (Select).
