Nick Jacobson, Democrat, Candidate for PA House, District 85
I'd like to bring down the cost of living by stimulating competition and bringing small and large businesses to PA. That involves regulatory relief, fair taxation, and anti-monopoly enforcement.
We need to work with local and state officials to make it easier to build affordable housing, especially multi-family homes.
We should expand access via telemedicine/broadband investments and work to get every Pennsylvanian health insurance.
I look to Washington, DC for comprehensive immigration policy, especially to address the border and a broken asylum claims system. In Pennsylvania I'm grateful for all that immigrants contribute to our communities and think we should work to make our economy work for everyone.
I oppose the draconian anti-abortion legislation we have seen in some states. My priority is supporting our families--children and parents. We should address our maternal care crisis and make childcare more accessible and affordable. We should not have government telling people what decision to make for their family and their health.
I support the second amendment. I also support common sense gun violence prevention to address the suicide epidemic, especially among veterans and children, and stem the tide of guns acquired outside the standard legal background check system.
I think acting now to prevent the degradation and destruction of our air, soil, water, and climate is essential--and economically beneficial. I'd like to bring new jobs and industry to PA to fit the challenges and the opportunities of the 21st century.
I support the rights of people to live and love however they choose to do so in their lives.
We should have more workforce development and alternatives to a college education for students to pursue as they choose. Colleges and higher education institutions should also face incentives to lower costs and focus on the central purposes of higher education.
