Robert Zeigler, Democrat, Candidate for PA House, District 171

What is your position on abortion policy?

I am pro-choice. Government has no right to invade medical privacy.

What is your position on voting administration? (ex: mail-in ballots, drop boxes, voter ID, etc.)

I think what we have in place is great and we should expand voting rights.

What are your positions on economic policy and job creation (ex: inflation reduction, taxes, regulations, etc.)?

I think we need to stop giving tax breaks to corporations as that has proven to not be effective economic policy in our state, considering our state GDP has not increased in terms of percentage when we cut taxes. We also need to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, with extra time to adjust for mom and pop businesses.

What is your position on climate change and environmental policy?

We need to cap abandoned wells/mines in addition to holding corporations accountable for negligence and/or inaction that impacts the environment. Furthermore, we need to transition to renewables as that is the future.

What is your position on immigration policy?

We need to streamline our process for citizenship foe those who wish to become citizens and help those that we can.

What is your position on LGBTQ rights? (ex: marriage, adoption, sports participation)

I fully support LGBTQA rights.

What is your position on criminal justice reform?

We need to legalize marijuana, treat substance abuse and mental health as public health issues and not criminal ones, and focus on corresponder units within the police force to reduce crime. We also need to ensure our public defenders are not overworked and given the resources to do their job.

What is your position on gun ownership policy?

Responsible gun ownership is necessary. We need gun storage laws as well as red flag laws (assuming they are implemented correctly). We also need to better address substance abuse and mental health issues, which would also help in this area.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

I also support a gift ban on legislators (nominal gifts under $100 are tolerable) and want corporate money out of elections. I will support almost any legislation that works toward achieving those goals.
