Scott Conklin, Democrat, Candidate for PA House, District 77
--I will continue to support policies that will ease inflation, spend our tax money wisely and promote economic growth.
--I will continue to support local efforts to tackle the issue of affordable housing. Recent surveys have shown that it is the number one issue on the minds of Centre County residents. I want to work with local leaders to receive input and look for solutions.
--I have a long record of supporting programs that improve the access to healthcare for our citizens. I have voted to strengthen support CHIP and other vital services that are critical resources for those who need medical care.
--The federal government is in charge of the immigration policies of this country. With that said, we need to treat everyone with dignity and respect. I will continue to encourage our federal officials to come up with a comprehensive plan to address the issue.
--The right to bodily autonomy should be enshrined in our state constitution.
--We need to enact common sense gun measures that increase background checks and enhance our mental health services.
--Recently, I voted for the Solar for Schools program which will provide districts with financial help to move from fossil fuels. Throughout my career, I have repeatedly received the endorsement of environmental groups for my vigilant watch on protecting our streams, air and quality of life.
--The government should play no restrictive role in determining who you love, what you do with your body, guidelines for sports or standing in the way of a child that needs love and support of an adoptive family.
--This year we made historic investments in education. We need to continue that trend. I support Governor Shapiro's plans to continue to increase funding for education and I look forward to working with him if I have the honor of being re-elected.
